What we’re all about

Our Philosophy

We think woodworking should be fun, challenging, and inspiring, not intimidating or exclusive to only those traditionally given access to it.

Thus, while we invite all to join us, when we open our space for workshops we have the beginner and those found on the margins in mind.

At the bench, we encourage making mistakes, practice, and sharing what we’ve learned.

Our Shop

By day, we’re a custom furniture company, operating out of a 3,000 sq.ft. building located in inner SE Portland. We’re equipped with every machine and hand tool any beginner-to-intermediate woodworking student would need to get started.

Types of Classes & Workshops

We aim to offer classes that folks in our community want to take. Our core workshops are all about furniture-making techniques, but can be applied across all forms of woodworking and carpentry. Typically, we offer workshops that are “skills-based” (i.e. “Intro to Furniture Hand Tools”) that may compound upon one another, or we offer one-off classes that are “project-based” (i.e. Chair-making Class).

Be sure to check out our list of classes for our most current offerings.

FAQs

  • The Regrainery
    1004 SE Clinton St.,
    Portland, OR 97202

  • Usually, arriving right at the listed start time works just fine. We typically spend the first 10-15 minutes getting to know one another anyway, so if you're running a little behind, that's no sweat.

That said, if you're going to be more than 45 minutes late, please reach out to us via email and we will try to get you into another section of the class. We spend much of the first hour going over shop safety and proper tool usage, and if you miss these tutorials you won't be able to safely operate our machines.

  • We have a small parking lot in front of our shop that you are more than welcome to park in. Also, street parking is available right around the corner.

  • No, we do not offer refunds. Please double check the dates and times of our classes before signing up.

That said, if you are experiencing a very rare circumstance and simply cannot attend, we will do our best to transfer you into a different section of your class, or credit you back with a gift card to use at a later date.
